State of the Den

A lot has been going on around the den the past few months. (I promise we haven't been hibernating.) In the words of our visitor Peacock, "We're going on an adventur!" We have been actively seeking new cubs to care for & nurture.

We had Koala's brother Chipmunk visit us for a few days. He loved to sing for us and be active in the backyard with Kangaroo.

We also had a real live bunny visit us this summer for a few days as Turtle (formerly Giraffe - we realized she doesn't like giraffes) brought her pet bunny BunBun over to our house. The kids had a lot of fun with him in the backyard.

Shortly after that, Dolphin sadly moved to a new state (nowhere near the ocean). We miss her very much and spent our last day with her playing in the water.

Turtle and Monkey have ventured off to school, and we miss them very much. Monkey spent one of her last days talking about "peanut butter & jelly fish" and doing "ballet, no... chimnastics" on Kangaroo's legs. We also had a big adventure the end of August with Turtle and Monkey at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

In August and September we did part-time care for Little Lamb. I chose this name for her because of her soft and curly black hair and her great big hugs. It took a little coaxing on my part to convince her that I wanted to call her Little Lamb. Finally she agreed, "Okay, okay, you can call me Lil Yam." She is now heading to preschool. We will miss the way she called Kangaroo "Geo" and "Gabriel."

Of all our initial cubs, Puppy is still with us. She comes to visit several times a month. She is learning and growing as a preschooler, and loves to dance to Madagascar's theme, "I Like To Move It, Move It."

We welcomed Canary into our home recently. She is a little lady who loves to laugh, cheer and play. We are so thankful for her and we treasure the new song she brings to our family.
