State of the Den

A lot has been going on around the den the past few months. (I promise we haven't been hibernating.) In the words of our visitor Peacock, "We're going on an adventur!" We have been actively seeking new cubs to care for & nurture.

Koala's Last Day

On May 25th, we had our last day with Koala. She was one of our part-timers that left so that she could be home more days of the week. We miss her very much, but we're grateful for the time we did have with her - especially the last day.

Dolphin thoroughly enjoyed playing in the chalk...

...as I'm sure you can tell.

For her birthday, Rabbit got a Butterfly Garden, which lets you get caterpillars in the mail and watch them transform into butterflies. It was a great experience to watch them grow, and the day after Koala left, we got to set them free into the wild. Kangaroo snapped the picture above.

Technically, this wasn't Koala's last day, because the week after that we ended up watching her and her brother for three more days. :) Hopefully we'll put some pictures up from that as well. We miss you both! :D

We haven't been updating in a while because the cubs have kept us busy. Here's a taste of what we've been up to! Hope you enjoy it! :)

Tidbits for the Day

It's been a full and entertaining day at the Lion's Pride Childcare. Here are some quotes from the amazing people we have here today.

One of our new arrivals, Zebra, showed up today wearing a Raiders jersey. Kangaroo (11) is an avid Broncos fan, so he had something to say about that.

Kangaroo: He's so cute... except for the Raiders jersey.

Rabbit (7) and Karen were discussing the Statue of Liberty. This was their conversation...

Karen: Do you know what that lady with the torch is called?

Rabbit: The green lady of America!

Puppy (3) has her own idea of what bad words are.

Puppy: Don't say icky words, like "don't" and "no."

When sitting in the car, I (K-Bird) was talking to Puppy about her siblings.

Puppy: I have a brother.
K-Bird: You do? How old is he?
Puppy: He's six. And I'm three. Everyone in the world is three.
K-Bird: But I'm 14.

Puppy: Oh... then I'm 14 too!

And last, but not least, Karen was talking to the mom of Dolphin (9 months). English is a very strange language and sometimes it can get the best of you.

Dolphin's Mom: She doesn't have allergies to cats or dogs... just her dad.

What she really meant was that her dad had allergies. Gotta love English.

On behalf of the rest of the pride,
K-Bird
